seo is not a one time thing, but a continuous ongoing process.

Search Engine Optimization is not something you do once, and then it’s over.

Anytime you update your site with new content, you must apply the SEO techniques you’ve learned in this course whenever applicable.

Let’s go over the possibilities for new content that will need to be optimized:

Updating Pages

When you update an already existing page on your website such as adding a new section, new text, or new images, be sure to apply on-page SEO techniques whenever possible: titles, URLs, keywords in headers if possible, and image optimization. After you’ve finished updating the page, be sure to request indexing in Search Console.

Adding new images

Anytime a new image is added to your site, or an image replaced, you need to optimize before uploading (resize and rename), and after uploading according to the techniques outlined in Lesson 4.2. After you’ve finished uploading new images, be sure to request indexing in Search Console.

adding entire new pages

When adding a whole new page to your website, I recommend going back through all of Section 4 to be sure you aren’t forgetting anything. In a nutshell: optimize the URL Slug, optimize the Page Description and SEO Description. Then, when designing the page, make sure to implement SEO into all text blocks and image files. Refer to Lesson 4.3 during the design of a new page. Once you’ve finished the page, be sure to request indexing and submit a new sitemap in Google Search Console.

adding new blog posts

Once you’ve finished your SEO-driven blog post, being sure to optimize the title and URL using keyword research, and abiding by all the other Blogging For SEO guidelines you learned in Lesson 4.5, remember to:

  • Request indexing of the new blog post URL (in Search Console)

  • Share around your social media

  • Send out to your newsletter if you have one

  • Create a graphic using Canva so your post is more noticeable on social media platforms such as Pinterest

I promise All of this will become second nature the more you do it.
